OTAKI FIRE BRIGADE.
At Monday night’s meeting of the Otaki Volunteer Fire Brigade (presided over by Lieut. Irvine), Mr W. Bassett sent in his resignation as captain of the brigade, owing to pressure of his private duties. The resignation was accepted with regret, and Mr J. R. Bills was appointed to the vacancy. Mr Cyril Batten was appointed •Second Lieutenant in plaee of Second Lieutenant E. Batten, who the district. It was resolved to have a practice demonstration at an early date. It was reported that the Brigade was very short of funds. Any means of augmenting the funds will be welcomed by the officers.
