HAUTERE DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the club was bold in the club pavilion last Saturday evening. There was au attendance of 17 members. President J. Guy occupied the chair. The balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of £l7 13s old, was then pul before the committee and adopted. The president then read the annual report as under:— 1 he year 1920 has been one of the most successful the club ha s ever had, as the balance-sheet wilt show, and also the score book, the teams having won nearly eveiy match, thereby ning the shield and cup—a pcrtor-iu-anco that the club lias every reason tbe proud of, aud wants to try and repeat, which, with unity. \ have every reason to believe you can do. Regarding the financial aspect: The Club gave away to 10s worth of ammunition in match shooting—a thing you do nor. want to repeat this year if you want new targets; you have to gather overv available shilling, as the targets are a very expensive matter. After giving this away the club has an ammunition credit balance of £-! Ills aud has on hand B,iOO rounds, which is the most that the club has ever had to start a season with. You will notice that there was on Easter Monday a ercdiC balance of £ I Ms fid; this after the big prize money that was paid out was very good, and the day should be repeated the coming season if possible. There is a matter of £ll odd from the dances held during the year. The club should try and hold a few more next year, as it helps to make the club popular with the public, and is also an aid financially. You have on hand £l7 13s 9d. which seems a big amount, tint when you consider that the now targets required will cost vou a matter of between £3O and £4O you have not 100 much in hand. As soon as vou have the money I should strongly‘advise you to get the job done, us it is very necessary. The club should tender thanks to the public for the way they have treated them in regard to trophies and contributions. I must thank the club and officers for the way they have treated me in the past season making my office a pleasant one to hold. Hoping tho coming year will lie as successful as the last.” The election of officers was proceeded with as follows:—Patron, Mr W. it. Field, M.P.; president, Mr ,T. Guy; dop. president, Mr A. L.
