SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE.
TO BE ESTABLISHED AT LEVIN. . The Atiiiistcr of Agriculture stated that the Government sees no reason to alter its decision to utilise the bequest of the late Josiah Howard in establishing a college of agriculture at the AVeraroa state Farm, despite the Hawke’s Bay representations that the testator intended the. college to be established on his property. The Minister declares that the testator has not limited the bequest in this direction. He desired to benefit the inhabitants of New Zealand by the establishment of a college, and as the testator’s Hawke’s Bay property is unsuitable, there is nothing improper or unjust in the -application of the establishment
of a college of ngriculfure in any suit able part of New Zealand. AVe understand that the Government
intends utilising the facilities it possesses at Weraroa in other ways besides being the home of the college of agriculture, ami that at least one other important branch of research and de-
velopment will Lit* located there
