McAulay, who has been training the other members of Mr G. D. Beatson's team for some weeks past. Bose Pink, who won the Parliamentary Handicap at Trentham, competed in 35 races last season. j j The one-time smart 'chaser, Bon j Reve, owned by Mr H. Neugle, is now used as a station hack and is thoroughly sound. He will be put into work again shortly. TaraiM Jack, ridden by Stan. Reid put up his best performance to date by carrying 12st 41b into second place in the Kensington Steeplechase on the second day of the V.R.C. Grand National Meeting. The New Zealander led over the last fence, but in the run home more than met his match in the lightly-weighted Pimpara. The Fovton-trained First Bine has the record of winning three steeplechases in so many months. He led o£ bv capturing the Wanganui Steeplechase, and then, after running second respectively in the Grandstand Steeplechase at Wanganui and in the Hawke’s Bay Steeplechase, he won the June Steeplechase at Hastings, following; that feat up by leading the. held home in the Wellington Steeplechase. The son of Advance has therefore paid his •way nicely tins season. With the minor meetings to be decided before the season ends, Mr W R. Kemball heads the list of winning owners with £10,935, Mr F.S.
