Te Horo v. Otaki, at Otaki. Shannon v. Excelsior, at Levin. Foxton v. Y.M.C.A., at Foxton. OTAKI (4) V. SHANNON (1). The Otaki team journeyed to Shannon on Wednesday and secured a comfortable win by 4-1. In the first half the visitors attacked repeatedly, and were penalised far more than they deserved. Shannon, on the other hand, were only dangerous at occasional intervals. In the second half Otaki again had the best of the game, although the home team made frequent attacks. It was during one of these that Bovis scored. Giddens and Adsotv, however, more than equalised matters, securing two goals each by easy shots. As many more were missed, while the offside play of the forwards was responsible for other goals being lost. Messrs Shank’land and Nicolson were referees. The game, on the whole, was a fair one, but the visitors were superior in all branches although Hook, Bovis, and King for Shannon were among the best players on the ground. The Otaki i’or- . wards proved fast, and oftimes carried the ball for the greater portion of the field, while the backs were reliable, their stopping and hitting being pleasing features. TE HORO (2) V. FOXTON (2). This match, played at Levin, was an even contest, and excited a deal of interest. Both sides, as the scores indicate. were about equal merit, but had Tc Horo played in the same manner us when they 'met Otaki they would doubtless have won. > EXCELSIOR (6) V. Y.M.C.A. (0). This game, as was expected, resulted in an easy win for the Excelsior team b o. The vanquished, with the aid of one or two fine players, made occasional dashes that did them credit, but the opposing combination was too strong. The forwards proved a smart set, while the backs played reliably. | The Te Horo Hockey Club has entered a protest against Foxton, on the j ground that the referee gave a -wrong ■ decision and thus allowed a goal to be scored.
