OBITUARY.
MR J. H. BATJCKE. By the death of the late Mr John Henry Bauckc, Paraparauniu has lost one of its most highly esteemed residents, he being recognised as a man of kindly disposition, a hard-working. straightforward farmer, a good liasband and lather, and "a real white man." Deceased was born at the Chatham Islands 57 years ago. He resided for many years at Pahiatua, and came to Paraparaumu some ten or twelvo years ago, and has lived there ever since. He was in bis usual good health until a short time ago, and entered the Otaki HoVpital a few days ago for treatment. Death was due u> heart failure. He leaves a wife nnH family of eight—three sons ami five daughters—all of whom reside in the district or near by. Two of the son* saw active service. Paraparaumu residents will mourn the loss of a valued resident, and wide sympathy will be felt for the bereaved family.
