POLICE COURT.
OTAKI—THIS DAY. Wandering Stock. At the Otaki Police Court this morning. before Messrs 11. Freeman and C. i 11. Williams, J ’s.P., live owners of wuui dering stock were summoned by the \ Horowhenua County Council ranger (G. ! Watson). The first, ease called was that of Albert Johnston, who allowed . his horse to wander at Waikanac. Do- | fondant wrote, pleading guilty, while : the ranger stated that since the infer- ■ matioii had been laid he had had no :: further trouble. Fined 10s, costs 12s. Paul Jenkins allowed two horses to .■ stray at AVaikanae, and in this case the ranger pointed out that the man had ; practically no laud, yet he owned three horses, which be allowed to graze on . the roads. Since the information had been laid Jenkins had continued to be a offender, and on this account he uskf ed that the Bench give the case special ; at tent ion. As Jenkins was a first of- .• tender the Bench decided to inflict a r penally as in the previous case, but , slated their intention of doubling it should he again be. charged. ■ .Mrs William Davis, also of Wai--1 kauae, wrote pleading gulity, and in • extenuation stated her horse had broken out. The ranger stated that the animal proved nil annoyance, was a i terror to the neighbourhood, and was the means of smashing gates. At the • same time he did not. think the animal j was deliberately turned out. Fined l»s. costs It's. Malcolm Wills pleaded guilty, while • the ranger stated that this was a first offence .and that the accused had not -ince offended. Fined Pis. costs 12.;.
