MANAKAU.
The Methodist Sunday School had special services yesterday. A most appropriate afternoon service was conducted by the Rev. IV. G. Slade, who gave a suitable address. Afterwards the prizes were distributed by Mrs Slade. There was a good attendance of children, and a pleasant and profitable time was spent. The evening service was conducted by the Rev. Aspland, who gave a splendid address that was greatly enjoyed by all.
Mr and Mrs W. Clifford, of Lower Hutt, spent the week-end at Manakau, staying at Mr T. Clifford’s (brother of the former). They drove through from the Hutt, and to-day went on to Opunake. Miss Nixon is visiting Manakau, the guest of Mr and Mrs Lcs. Staples. The gross takings at the garden party last Wednesday totalled £7O Ids Id, and after paying all expenses the Methodist Church will benefit to the extent of £BS 7s 9d.
