WEDDING BELLS.
DAVISON—McCLELAND.
A pretty wedding of special interest' to residents of Otaki and district was celebrated at the Otaki Methodist Cliurch on Wednesday afternoon last, the contracting parties being Miss i: lonic McOlelaud, seventh daughter of aud the late Mr T, McCleland (among file oldest and most esteemed settlers of Otaki), and Mr J. ,T. Davi--son, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. Davison, of Levin. The church had been most tastefully and effectively decorated by girl friends of the bride, prominent among the decorations being a huge and beautiful floral hell, suspended over the spot where the. bridal party stood for the ceremony. The church was crowded with interested spectators for the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. W. G. Slade, -M.A. the bride was charmingly robed in a very beautiful white gown, that was greatly admired by the Indies. It was of crepe-tle-cliene. with draped georgette overskirt and tunic, and insets of pretty butterflies of hand-made luce
.V sash-bolt of satin brocade gave a smart finish. The bride also wore au oinbroidered tulle veil, arranged in mop cap style, and orange, blossoms, and carried a very pretty shower boutjnel, composed of white carnations, roses, etc., with maiden liair fern and asparagus sprengeri. Miss Violet Bealo (niece ol the bride), who acted as bridesmaid, 'vote a leiuou-coloiired crepii-de-cheue, made in pannier style, "itii under-lining of pale heliotrope. Iter hat was a lemon-coloured georgette, trimmed with pansies and lieliotiope libbons. .Miss Bealo also carried a shower boiujuet ol white sweet pons "ilii mauve sweet Sultans. Mr A. R. it ml Ivin acted as best man, while the bride was given away by Mr Les. Atkins (brother-in-law). Mr Harold Cockrell presided ut the organ, and* played the "Wedding March.” At i ho conclusion of the ceremony, by a novel contrivance, a box of rose petals concealed in the big floral bell was emptied over the bridal party, having a pretty effect. The'party was liberally showered with confetti and rose petals as it left the church. Afternoon tea was afterwards dispensed at the. residence of Mrs Lcn. Atkins (sister ol the bride), Manakuu, there being a good assemblage of relatives and close friends. The usual felicitous speeches were made, and a pleasant time spent. The handsome wedding-cake, a very tine specimen of artistic work, was made and donated by Air L, Ought on, of Wellington (brother-in-law to tie; bride). The newly.wedded couple loft by the evening train for Palmerston North, «« route for Auckland. When leaving, the bride was wearing a mole-coloured gabardine costume, with tulle hat with lemon shading. Tim bridegroom V present to his bride was it plain gold bangle, and to ihe bridesmaid a gold and ultramarine brooch. The bridal pair wor- the recipient* ot a great many valuable and useful presents, including several cheques.Mr and Mr- .Davison are among the best-knotm young people in the entire district. They have earned golden opinion:-- from all v.hom they have met, and veil carry with them the bent wishes of very wide circle of friends, with whom the ‘‘Oink; Mail'' wishes to join most heartily.
