After this the day improved, but a few further light showers fell, and the weather was cold and unseasonable.

Notwithstanding this serious drawback, which undoubtedly- affected the attendance, the gathering was a largo and representative one, especially in the afternoon, and everything passed oil exceptionally well. Indeed the show’ was a great success in every w*av, and the officials well deserved the hearty congratulations poured on them from all sides.

Thcrfe were a great many side shows on the grounds, all of which were well patronised, while the Levin Band enlivened the proceedings with a good programme of music. < f The Prime Minister, accompanied byMr W. H. Field (member for the district) and Mrs Field, arrived at Levin by the Napier mail train, and returned to the city by the afternoon Napier train.

Mr Massey inspected the exhibits carefully, with an experienced eye. and expressed himself well pleased wth the live stock, more especially tindairy cows and pigs. He was also much interested in the competitions.

The grand parade, in the afternoon, was a very fine spectacle, and was watched with great interest. This feature showed what a really- splendid lot. of entries had iicen received, and the display was certainly the finest ever seen in the district, and was a credit to the Assocaton.i
