hand. Cr. Welch and I went over the proposed hew road on Waddington estate, and I am of opinion the estimate as submitted, to you would amply cover the cost of work to be undertaken, but would respectfully point out to you if the work is undertaken by your Council the upkeep or maintenance particularly of the two main roads must as a consequence be to some extent neglected. The greater portion of the work would have to be done with the motor lorry, hence the work 1 have in view for the lorry during the autumn would necessarily be 'held up. which effect must be felt during the coming winter. The two main roads are in very fair order, also the by-roads, with few exceptions. The crushing plant is in use at Packakariki, while the motor lorry is still in use in Kpuni. ’ 1 have inspected Iho Eikiorungi bridge and river encroachments, and have decided to put in some protection work about half a chain above the bridge, to divert the current from the eastern span. The necessary wire has been obtained and tlic work will be put in hand immediately. Cr. Galloway and X inspected the road or strip of land at Plimmerton, with which the Kailway Department has communicated with you, and wo arc of opinion the Council should accept dedication as suggested by the Department.
