DIGGERS' BALL.

The "Diggers'" bell, to be held in the Theatre on Wednesday, promises to eclipse all similar functions held in the district this season. The floor is to receive special preparation, the supper to be on an elaborate scale, is in the hands of an energetic ladies' committee, while the decorations should prove 'decidedly attractive. Our soldiers for the past few .years have done arduous duties at the front, and as this ball is to raise funds for a soldiers' club it is hoped all terpsichoreans will rally round and extend to them the hearty support they deserve. The orchestra, winch is due from Wellington, is a strong one, and therefore we guarantee iirst-elass music. AH other preparations will be equally complete. Captain Bax request*. us to ask all returned soldiers attending the ball to appear in uniform, and it is hoped that this request will be acceded to thus making the function more picturesque.
