) CLEARING SALE. j Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., - re--1 port having held a successful clearing sale of dairy stock, etc., on account of Mr J. T. Singer, Tc Horo, on Thursday, the 2nd instant. Mr Singer’s cows were . reeognissd as being a good herd, and ' although the condition of the stock was not of the best, still a satisfactory sale of the grade cows resulted, prices being as under: —Cows, October culvers, from £ls 10s to £25; cows in milk, from £S 10s to £l3. Although a number of purebred Shorthorn cows were offered, competition for this class of stock was hot animated, and most of the lots offered failed to reach vendor's idea of value. Purebred Shorthorn bulls made from 20 to 22}gns; purebred Shorthorn cows from £2O to £23 10s; dry cows, £0 10s to £8 10s; yearling heifers from £5 10s to £6 15s.
Tho Loan and Mercantile Agency Agency Co., Ltd., report:— We conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr F. A Evans at the farm, To Horo, on Monday. There was a good attendance and competition was keen, and the prices realised proved highly satisfactory to the vendor. Quotations: Best cows close to profit £2O to £29 10s, ditto in milk calved August and Sep-, tember £IS to £26 10s, medium cows in milk £ll to £l7 10s, 3 guaranteed and lato. calvers £9 10s to £l3 10s,‘ empty forward condition dry cows £9 Is, S.TI. bull £l6, mixed sheep 33s to 395, empty sow £S 2s Gd, small weancr pigs 335, 8-year spring-cart marc £26 10s, gelding £25, hack £5, spring dray harness £26 ss, block dray and harness £ll, drill £3O, roller £2O, disc harrows £15," s.f. plough £9, tools and sundries at full market values.
j At Levin on Tuesday wc offered a small entry of sheep and a good yarding .of cattle, the bulk of which changed hands at tho following prices:—Wether hoggets S7s, mix sex do. 23s 2d, fat heifers £l3 2s, fat cows £l3, good store cows £6 6s to £3 18s, yearling heifers £ t to £5 10s, dairy cows £ll to £l7 10s, licifors elose to profit £9 10s to £l2 ss, late calvers £6 2s 6d to £7 10s, bulls £5 to £ll.
At Tc Hero yards on Wednesday weoffered a fair entry of.sheep and cattle. Sheep sold well, but cattle wore easy. Wo quote: Fat and forward ewes 34s 2d, medium hoggets 275, mixed hoggets and small 2-tooths 30s, ewes and lambs 15s to 475, storo cows £4 15s to £6, springing heifers £lO, cows £l2.
LONDON WOOL SALES, Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of a cable from their London house under date of 4th inst. reading as follows: — “Wool sales closed very firm. The market was very animated, with most wools selling at the highest rates of tho season. Tho total net quantity available amounted to 139,000 bales, of which were sold to America 10,000 bales, for home consumption 35,000 balos, to the Continent SO,OOO, and 4000 ivetc carried forward. -As compared with last sales’ closing rates merino wools wore from 10 per cent to 15 per cent higher, fine crossbreds 10 per cent higher, medium crossbreds 10 per ec-nt higher, and coarse crossbreds 5 per cent higher. Any change in price of shabby crossbred wools is in favour of sellers. Tho next scries commsncc on 20th October.”
