PAEKAKARIKI.
A plain an|l fancy dress ball was bold at Paekakariki on 3rd inst. in aid of Ike kail funds. It proved a great 'success; there being about 100 couples on the floor. Some very striking were worn. Mrs Morgan as jockey, Miss Simmons as Dutch boy, Mrs Clinch as Italy, Mrs Eyan ns Belgian, Mrs Wheeler as Japan, Miss Foley as Night, Mrs S. Smith as Japan, Mrs King as Coleen, Mrs Blake as school girl were particularly noticeable. Among the < gentlemen were: Mr Eyan as Huntsman, Mr Magan as Housemaid, Mr McGilvray ns Gentleman, Mr Kiley as Japanese, Mr Scott as Chinaman. Mr Eyan carried out the duties of M.C. The Paekakariki branch of the N.Z. Labour Tarty are holdingfa concert and dance on Monday,- 27th. A good programme has been arranged. After a prolonged delay a fresh start has been made with the new post office. It is hoped it will be in readiness for the holidays.
