Stetson, who developed' soreness at the Otaki meeting, has gone very lame, and is now under the attention of Fred Carmont, of Levin.
There is little doubt but that Sweet Tipperary will make the trip south for the Cup meeting.
Mr F. Easton’s Gang Awa’ and Moutoa Camp are quartered at Fred Carmont’s stables at Levin. The former will be spelled after the Levin meeting.
Tho well-known racing marc. Birkenetta dropped dead while being trained on the Foxton course last week. The mare -was being galloped, and after traversing about two furlongs collapsed. Mr P. Mcßrcarty, who was in the saddle, was thrown heavily to the ground, and received a very severe shaking and was bruised considerably, but fortunately no bones were broken. Birkenetta was owned by tke popular shannon sportsman .who races under the name Of “P. Rossmead,” and was trained by Mr D.' McCauley, of Foxtoq.
