Health Department was considered by the police to be unnecessary, and the chairman promised to inspect the hotel and ascertain if the suggestion should be adhered to. A license was granted E. H. Beveridge (Post Office Hotel, Foxton), improvements as suggested being nearly completed. The police report on the Family Hotel, Foxton (F. W. Gardes) stated improvements as recommended had not been done, while Mr Gardes said they were under course of construction.— Application deferred for a month. In connoction with this hotel it was stated that the Foxton Borough Council had granted a liconse which the Bench said it had no right to do. Under the circumstances the clerk was instructed by the chairman to write a "stiff" letter to the Council, and point out it had overstepped the mark. The application of Len Freeman | (Whyte's Hotel, Foxton) was adjourned for a month to allow the Bench to ascertain particulars of the contract.

The application of Annie Doogan (Grand, Levin) was granted. . An application for a temporary transfer from Gardes to Curran (Family Hotel, Foxton) was,granted.
