CULTURE OF FRUIT TREES.

ADVICE-RE PRUNING. There were only eleven persons present at the address on culture of fruit trees and pruning demonstration given by Mr Wesley Knight at the Otaki Reading-room on Friday niglit. Tho address, however, was fully appreciated, and all present admitted they had learned much. Mr Knight, who has had a wide experience, and has carefully studied his subject, dealt with the growing of trees, from the planting of the seed, and then gave examples of pruning which would prove beneficial. He also showed how roots should and should not grow, and also dealt ably with the process of grafting. At the conclusion of the address the speaker was accorded a most hearty vote of thanks for his interesting and instructive remarks.

A number of questions were asked, and a helpful discussion ensued. On Friday week Mr Harold Small, an authority on Native trees and shrubs, will provide a paper treating on this engrossing subject.
