OTAKI TOWN BOARD.

EXTRAORDINARY ELECTION. Tlie by-cleetion on Wednesday to fill the vacancy on the Otaki Town Board,, caused by the retirement of Mr W. H. Reynolds, caused a deal of interest, and resulted in a close contest botween Mr W. Noble and Mr C. H. Williams, the former gaining the verdict, by one vote, 94-93. A fair number waited outside the polling booth for the result. Following are tho figures polled:—Mackie, John go Noble, W. H 94 Williams, <C. H 93 ' \ Informal 5 The total number of votes '(252) polled, came within two of the byelcetiou in January, when 254 were polled. In the by-election in December 220 votes'were cast, while at the general election in September there were 223 ■vote*. On the uuimprbvtrc&wluo question 117 voted. ; %
