LAWN TENNIS.
MANAKAU V. SHANNON. Manakau and Shannon Clubs tried conclusions on tho Shannon courts on Wednesday last, whon tho visitors won by 13 sets to 7. Four Manakau ladies, easily outclassed tlm. Shannon ladies in the singles, the fifth set going in favour of Shannon. Tho men’s singles, however, were moro evenly contested. It was a most enjoyable day’s sport, and tho visitors were delighted with the outing. The Shannon ladies provided a uico luncheon on tho courts. Manakau, 13 sets (103 games); Shannon, 7 sets (74 games). The Manakau players hope to arrange matches with Otaki and Levin teams at an early dale. These matches create much interest and help to improve teams considerably.
