Education Board.

The Education Board met on Wednesday. Present Misss EVywood, Messrs R. G. Bauchope (chairman), Faull, Wade, Adlam, Ambury, Hill, Allswortb, and Mackay. Confirmed.—The chairman's action in making the following temporary appointments was confirmed : Miss Rermell, assistant at Central School, at a salary equal to £6O a year ; Miss R. Gane, pupil teacher at Waiongona School, at a salary equal to £3O per annum. Repairs—The Board decided that two rooms at Wortley Road be lined, as asked by the Inglowood Committee. The chairmau was instrucied to have erected a porch, the cost not to exceed £lO. Apr ointments. —The following appointments were made: Assistant mistress Waitara School, Miss Craddock; Lower Kent Road, Miss Cottrell; Albert Road, Mr Butcher, assistant teacher Norfolk Road, Miss Hamerton.

Resignations.—The resignations of Miss G. Roberts (Oaonui School), Miss Morton (assistant teacher Midhirst School), and Mrs Morgan (sewing teacher in the Kaimate and Tariki Schools) were received and accepted, and steps will bo taken to fill the vacancies. Cardiff.—The Chairman of the Cardiff Committee forwarded a resolution with reference to the examination question. The Board resolved to inform the committee that in the schedule prepared by the teacher, and handed to the inspector, one of the girls was entered as having passed the second standard, and that, with the schedule before it, the Board could not reply otherwise than it did; and that the attention of the Committee be drawn to regulation 8-, pages 53 and 54.

Tariki Site.—lt was decided that Mr M. Roguski be allowed to occupy the angle of the Tariki School site, at an annual rental of Is until further notice, provided he erects all fencing required to cut off this piece of the site to the satisfaction of Mr Mackay.

Leave of Absence.—Leave of absence was granted to Miss Richardson for one month, on account of illhealth, as recommended by the Town Committee. Rescinded.—The resolution of 28th December, 1892, with regard to leasing the residence attached to the Waitara School, was rescinded.

Deferred.—The notices of motion given by Mr Mackay regarding the Court of Appeal and scholarship regulations, and consideration of several petitions, were deferred. Accounts.—Accounts, amounting to £B4llßs 6d, were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.—Herald.
