New Book.

"EDUCATING THE HORSE." (By Professor Lichtwark.) We are in receipt of a copy of Prof. Lichtwrk's book on the above important subject to owners of horses. The Professor has made a life long study of the horse and how to manage it, aud he may fairly claim that he stands without a rival in successfully reducing the subject to a science. All the information and methods given in his book are the results of a life of study and practical experience, and any one possessed of ordinary mental calibre and a horse, by carefully noting and following his instructions, may achieve success. The book is very profusely illustrated showing clearly each stage of the process, so that any one may follow his extremely interesting explanations. Each part of the subject is dealt with in plain homely language and every attention given to the minutest detail. We have had the pleasure of witnessing the Professor engaged in his professional duties, and every one whom we have known to attend his classes have always expressed their astonishment at the simplicity of his method aud the wonderful results achieved. Years ago people w r ere under the impression that chemicals were used to stupify and attract the horse, hut any one who attends his class gets very soon convinced that the only chemical used is " common sense." If his system were in general use there would be very few vicious horses about and dozens of accidents which now take place yearly resulting in serious mannings, and sometimes in death, would be avoided. We would recommend every man who owns a horse to procure a copy of the book and carefully study its conteuts.
