.(.Out Own Cokeesj. j onl)Enx.) Aether chopping match has been arranged between Messrs Holtz and Badcock, the size of the timber to be two feet, and the stake £5 aside. The contest is to come off on Saturday week.
Messrs Palmer and Co., of Awatuua, have again started business after the temporary closing of the mill on account of the bad weather and roads. During the closing interval they have added considerably to their plant, one important addition being a travelling bench, which will enable them to turn out their orders more expeditiously. Now that they have started again, they are in a position to give every satisfaction to their customers, and their long experience in the sawmilling trade is a guarantee that all orders entrusted to them will bo faithfully executed.
The Rowan Road bachelors’ ball, pi spite of the bad weather that prer vailed, was a great success. Mr J. Robinson acted as MX'.
