DRAMA AND DANCE EVENING A drama and dance evening, arranged by the Drama. Circle of the Waimana Women’s Institute recently was a crowning success. All plays and sketches presented were well received and the players of the Taneutiia Women’s institute Drama Circle who so kindly presented a play also received a great hearing. Their help towards the programme was greatly appreciated. There was quite a large audience, visitors coming from most surrounding towns. The plays presented were :—"Five to livethirty”, which opened the evening. It had quite a. good story anti a touch of good humour. The players were Mrs. G. Mitchell, Miss Alice White, Miss Nola Rust, Mrs. Stevenson and Mrs. Cooper.

A humorous sketch entitled "Mechanical June", caused great laughter* and was well acted by Mrs. F. Savage, Mrs. B. Eagle and Miss Lola Savage. A drama followed, ‘‘Miracle ot Blaise”. The scene was a village of Blaise in occupied France Christmas Eve. 1941. Through-out this play, the audience’s interest was held to the end and was well presented bv Mrs. Wyidc. Mrs. RWhite, Miss Alice White, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Looney and Mrs. Hewitt. The final play was a comedy and very well presented by Taneatua members. The title was ‘Ev.cryone Comes to Habcl”. The scene, sitting room in Mabel’s home”. The cast was Mrs. Goodhew, Mrs.- Tebbutt, Mrs. Rutlcr, Mrs. Frost, Mrs. L. Grey. Mrs. Moore and Mrs. McDonald. At the conclusion of the plays, Mrs. R. Looney on behalf of the Institute members, thanked all the playeis, especially those from Taneatua for their valued help. The speaker also thanked all who attended the evening. Mrs. Looney then presented the producers of the plays with lovely floral, posies. Mrs. W.vlde, Mrs. F. Savage, and Mrs. Urey and the Taneatua players also received a bunch of flowers. Slipper was then served and a short time at dancing followed and the National Anthem concluded a very successful function. •
