HEADMASTER’S REPORT

Rolls: Primary 471, Secondary 152. As is usual at this stage of tlie year, some secondary pupils are accepting employment. The secondary roll total, therefore, shows some decline. It is expected that numbers in 1948 (secondary) will approach 190. Buildings and Grounds: In good order. The caretaker is to be congratulated upon the condition of the grounds on both sites. The shrubs and ilower plots, cared for by the horticulture classes under Air. Butcher’s direction, have been subject to most favourable comment.

The surroundings have been cleaned up at the baths and the bath given two coats of prepared nme paint to prevent algae (growth of green slime), and is now ready for use. Requirements Mowers: I recommend that consideration be given to the purchase of one or two new hand mowers. One mower is necessary for each site. Tfee sole existing mower is old and lias much heavy work to do.

Re-agent: A further supply of reagent is required for the testing equipment at the baths. Break-up : The. proposed date is Tuesday 16th. December. I shall confirm the date as early as possible. The arrangements and programme will be as for 1947. Film Postages: Up to the present the gala fund has provided the cost of film postages—a matter 1 of 2/3 weekly, The fund is almost exhausted. I would ask therefore, that the committee assist, if possible, in the cost of postages. Trolley: A light trolley-cart (steel frame on bicycle wheels/ would prove invaluable in the transport of the projector from one department to the other. I have asked the P.T.A. to assist and would appreciate any help from the committee.

Manual Training Conveyance 1948: I accompanied the chair-, man to interview officers of Road Services concerning bus conditions generally and 1918 arrangements particularly.
