SCHOOL COMMITTEE
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Opotiki District High School Committee was held in the Primary School on Thursday night, the chairman, Mr. W. J.. Inskip,. presiding. Members present were: Mr. S. 11. Williams, Mr. G, Peagram, Mr. J. L. Sinclair,Mr. A. MacDonald, Mr. W. R.- Payne (sec-retary-treasurer) and the Headmaster, Mr. H. Cox. Inward correspondence included a letter from the Education Board hi connection with a suggestion put forward by the committee that a new manual training school be built- on the High School grounds, and that the present manual train--ing school be used as part of the Primary School. The Board is investigating the proposal. Mr. Cox stated that next year if extra accommodation is not provided at tile Primary School it will be necessary to find accommodation. iri ' J . The question of provision of providing a suitable school for the training of apprentices for the motor trade was discussed, particulars cf this having appeared in the previous issue. The draft of a circular letter to be sent cut to parents from the committee was discussed. The letter deals with misunderstandings that have arisen concerning buses and bus conduct, children cut of grounds at lunch hour, milk, and swimming. .
After a lengthy discussion on the subject of buses, it- was decided to take tile matter up again with the Education Board. It was decided that the committee would pay the cost of postage on films. The question of purchasing a suitable conveyance for she P ro_ jeetor and also fqv the motor mower was discussed and it was decided to investigate the matter.. It- was decided to purchase an additional hand mower.
