YESTERDAY’S RACE The first- of a series of point races for the. O’Sullivan Trophy was sailed yesterday oii-thc Opotiki harbour. The day was line and the wind was a light to moderate southerly to south-easter-ly. Ten boats faced the starter, the race commencing at 10 a.m. The starters were:— Popeye (C. Brownie) 4 min., 11 hr. 31}-mins. Aianeno ('l'. N. ill)_7 min., 12 lirs. 8 min. 32 sec. Flying Cloud Cl.).- Mansell) 7 min., 12 hrs. 6 min. 30 sefe. Phantom (O. Herewith) 12 min., 12 hrs. 10 min. 41 sec. Opali (S. N. Chatfickl) scr., 11 hrs. 31 min. 5 sec. Silver Wings (D. Talbot). 6 min., 11 lirs. 50 min. 15 see. All the boats with the exception of Karoro, got away to a good start and kept dose together until alter rounding the buoy at the bar. Opali and Popeyo then commenced to pull away from the other boats and sticking ]y close together till the end of the race. Behind these floats, Endeavour and Silver Wings were lighting it out.
