The fact that supplies will not lie cut down will he welcome news to housewives, as this is a time when more sugar .than u,sual is required for jam-making and Christmas cooking. At first there wa s a heavy demand for sugar by people laying in stocks to carry them over a period during which there was likely to lie a limit on the amount of sugar sold over the counter.

Sudden Death. - The death 'occurred suddenly of an elderly native, H. Hcrewini, aged about 60 years, who was found! dead in his hut between Whitikau and Alotu. It is not known whether' or not an inquest will he necessary. Improvement to Hall. Last Saturday afternoon,’ members of the Tip Top Club spent several hours painting the interior of the Lyric . Hall.
