New Zealand .may he compelled to depend on otir efforts lor 1 food in the future. It is only now that seme, oi its realise what helpless people wo have been all these years to get even such things as onions from Canada and Japan instead of depending on ourselves. Onions fetch a good price and are . always needed, summer and winter by most people: yet how many of us are too lazy to plant enough for our own families. So now. A 1 Kditoi, we are ashamed of ourselves when we think of all the smacking, kicking and thrashing balls about day b\ day and wasting our energy in such a foolish way as we do, and dancing and drinking night alter night. W'e know now that it is much healthier and more sensible to dig or plant than, to lounge around watching halls being ldt and kicked. Any person who plants trees or crops is helping his or her country. Besides it is the best physical culture. Much ’ better than ‘Avhaiy is done in stuffy, dusty halls. X-...,. Ar HVK + rrv -ivlint tin von sn.v ?

Now, Atr. Editor. wlint do you say Are we not i * SENSIBLE.
