OPOTIKI R.S.A.

MONTHLY MEETING The president. Air. E. J. Baigent. presided over a full attendance at the monthly meeting of the Opotiki R.S. A., held in the club rooms. Several pension cases were dealt with and each was recommended to the Pensions Department. It was arranged to purchase .1500 poppies for sale on Poppy Day. 1940. A long discussion took place on matters dealing with any local soldier who may leave New Zealand during the present war. All agreed that the advice and experience of the' New Zealand R.S.A. should be at the disposal of these soldiers. It was unanimously agreed that any funds raised for this war should he kept entirely separate from the Great AA’ar funds. It was decided to offer the services of the Returned Soldiers’ Association to the Government in any service whatever, for the duration of the war. Arrangements were also made tor public send-offs to any local soldiqr who leaves Opotiki.
