TE AROHA “DOG CALF”
TO BE EXHIBITED AT CENTEX-. NIAL The ' extraordinary freak “dog call” born recently on a property near Te Ayoha, has been purchased by Mr. A. W. Sands, of Rotorua, and will shortly lie !exhibitedl in the town before being taken to the Centennial Exhibition. Mr Sands proposes .to donate the first £5 collected from the Rotorua exhibition to the Crippled Children's Fund, and the first £SO collected from the Centennial "Exhibition to the same-cause. The calf is at present being cared for by a farmer, and despite its extraordinary appearance and abnormalities, is thriving well. Photographs shown by Mr.. Sands demonstrated, that the description given of the freak animal is no exaggeration, its head! bears all the appearance of that of a, bull-dog. while it has a number of other pronouced canine characteristics.. The front legs are double jointed, hut the coat is that of a young Jersey call'. The eyes are large and round like those of a dog, and the ears also canine in shape. The creature, Mr. Sands states, already responds to a whistle as a dog would do.
