MAGINOT LINE CAFES
* IMP I{U VICD CONDITIONS ) | METZ, June 9.—^-Cinemas, billiard rooms and special Arab cafes for Moroccan troops have been installed in the underground forts of the, French Maginot Line to improve' conditions for the 1.500.000 men whom Franco has now under arms. Barbers' shops and baths, complete with white-coated attendants, have also been fixed up in several of the forts. The French are bearing the strain of this mobilisation well, even though it is causing considerable discomfort and difficulty to; the wives of many of the men, particularly to these with large families. ■ These are finding it hard to pay their way with the Government allowances. There is some discontent, however, owing to the fact that the Government. ha\ l e not yet imposed a moratorium on the rents paid by mobilised men.
