OPOTIKI-WHAKATANE ROAD

Sir.—X have been rather interested in tliei discussion on the most suitable road towards AYhakatane. and would like to comment, with your permission, on one little point that has been overlooked. This is the question of maintenance of the AYaimana road in the event of another road being built. Would the road remain a State highway, or would! the Opotiki and AVlmkatane Counties find themselves in the position of having to pay a contribution to the AYaimana road and thus the already tax-harrassed farmer find himself with an additional burden? This is a point that ecu Id he debated at a County Cmmc-il meeting or at the mooted public meeting. OPPRESSED. Opotiki. 4th. July.
