MEETING AT MAUNCARtA The monthly general meeting of the To Kaha Women’s Institute was lit In at Alaungaroa on Saturday afternoon. The president, Airs. Pratt, occupied the chair. In spite-of all the football and basketball events on Saturday in Te Kaha, and the inclement weather, there was a good attendance of members. Programmes showing details of the institute’s activities till the end ot the institute year in February were distributed andJ members expressed their appreciation of the committee’s work in helping individual. members to know forthcoming events well ahead of meetings.

A good response was made to the roll call, “A place I would like to visit and why”. Members’ tastes .seemed to vary between the yet uncivilised places and the ancient civilisations. A demonstrated of a knitted, trilled tea-cosy, was given by Mrs. Tiopira, whose work had previously received the awardi in a competition. Mrs. Ureingnan won the prize tor idle month’s competition of a dishcloth and wool-tapestry cardigan. Other members’ work showed variety and taste ; but the present activity among the women of To Kaha in tuku-tuku work for the new mecting-liouse prevented the completion of some work. Miss Bartrum was heartily thanked for her hospitality. Members greatly appreciated the cosiness of a fireside on a very inclement day. Tea was most acceptable, and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem in Maori.
