TO THE EDITOR

EXPRESIONS OF GRATITUDE

Sir, —Kindly permit me to express my deep appreciation t.oi all those who rendered assistance to me personally! in the recent accident which betel the County Chairman, County Engineer and myself. I would especially thank those kind friends whom I understand did not spare themselves in getting me up the cliff-side to the road, and to those fine fellows of the Public Works Department who assisted me to hospital. I have also learned that Air. A. G. Hultqirist ALP., rendered personal yeoman service, liis also was an act of practical friendship. To Dr. Brass, Aliss AlcLean and the Hospital Nursing Staff. I am also profoundly indebted. Everyone was so. kind and considerate to me that 1 shall always remember gratefully the exceeding kindness received. Then there, were those friends from far and near who in messages conveyed real expressions of sympathy and goodwill. One can hardly realise wliat a comfort it is in time of trouble, to feel that underneath the apparent earnestness and stiffness ot modern life real friendliness exists. In contemplation I have felt during convalescence what a wonderful thing it would be if this same principle ol mutual assistance. sympathy and friendliness was applied in a wider sense the world over. There would be no room for wars, as', peace on earth and good will to men would .surely follow. But I have digressed. Air. Editor, and claim your indulgence. Yours etc., J. T. AIERRtY.
