SPLEXD ID PEREOJ.ULAX CE SCHOOL FINDS BENE NT Something now in entertainment was ottered to the Opotiki puhlie on Wednesday night in the Parish Hail, when the Opotiki District High School Committee presented to a full house the sparkling comedy “Nothing Hut The Truth”. The performance had also been presented! on the previous night, when it was warmly welcomed. The story dealt with the dealings of persons. experienced and otherwise, in the stock market, of an effort to raise funds for a. seaside home, and the' troubles of a man forced to tell the truth foil' twenty-four hours. The players acted l in a manner that spoke ot many hours of practice, and all characters filled their parts to perfection. Indeed, all connected with the production of tlie play aret to be congratulated on a very fine presentation. The play went through without a hitch, and good use was made of lighting effects. At the conclusion of the play, lfev. Hampton, chairman of the school committee spoke briefly and expressed the satisfaction, of all present at its success. The ladies of the play, and the producer. Mrs. A. de Montalk, were the recipients of very pretty bouquets, while the gentlemen received buttonholes. Mr. A. S. Cordon, as the longsuffering truth . teller, received a charming bouquet- of carrots, and a portrait .of his great predecessor, Geo. Washington, The characters were as follows:--Clarence Van Duse'n, Nelson Hcdgson. E. M. Ralston. Norman de Lautour. Rev. Dr. Doran. Alex die JMontalk. Dick Donnelly, Ewen Merry. Rob Bon nett, Graham ‘Gordon. Mrs. Ralston. May Clark. Gwen Ralston, Emma Bridge, Ethel, Joan Salt. Mabel, Jean McNeill. Sahel, Katherine MacLean. Maid, Rena Brodie. Opotiki will look forward to another presentation by these talented performers.
