TO-MORROW’S BIG REP. MATCH STRONG APANTJI TEAM VISIT OF GISBORNE JUNIOR TEAM Rugby enthusiasts are promised a big clay of football to-morrow whoa two visiting teams will meet Opotiki senior and junior representatives. The senior match will see n very heavy and strong Apanui team meet Opotiki seniors in the first round for the Pa rata Cup, which was won by Opotiki in the final against Rotorua last season. The Opotiki team will, have a very hard proposition in the Apanui team, the forwards of which, are very much heavier than the Opotiki pack. Tlie Opotiki side is a fastone, and the players arcrdetermined to give a good account of themselves - The curtain-raiser should also prove an attractive game, a team representing the Gisborne H-.S. Old! Boys being opposed by the Opotiki junior representatives. The game will give the Opotiki juniors their first try-out this year as-a combination. Sandwiched in between the two representative games will lie a fast and’short seven-a-side between the convent and public school. There will lie noi club matches cm* Saturday. Bartlettwaited cm the management Committee of the AYairciiii County Rugby Sub-Un.-ion at its meeting on Tuesday evening with a request for permission to play a match with the O.M.P. club'.. Opotiki, in Nuliaka on July &. Air. O’Alalley. expressed the opinion, that friendly matches between outside teams infused, a fresh spirit into clubs in the' district and helped considerably towards the continuity of club life. Air. Pomaiia stated that, in aIL probability, players wouldi have to be diawn from the Nuliaka team as well as Y.M.P. club. The fixture was ol considerable importance to the Alaoris, and it was understood that the basketball team would be accompanying the footballers from Opotiki. The visitors were making the tour at thenown expense, and the gate receipts* at the .match would go to the sub-un-ion. The fixture was then arranged ;is> requested. •
