OPOHI.KI ANNUAL MEETING WIRELESS FOR NURSES . * I . 1 The annual meeting of the Opotiki Hospital Sunshine League was held in St. John’s Hall oil -Monday, Mrs. O. Gordon (president) presiding. The secretary read the minutes of the former annual meeting, which were adoptedi. The treasurer presented the balance-sheet, which Showed a highly satisfactory position. Airs. Gordon’s resignation as president was received with much regret and Airs. Quirk was appointed to. lill the position. The following are the officers for the ensuing year. President, Airs. Quirk. Vice-presidents, Mesdamess C. Gordon, Hird, Aim-ice, C. Clark, J. D. Clark, and Burton. Secretary, Airs. C. H. Fleming. •Treasurer, Airs. J. Jl. Sinclair. Superintendent of hospital visitation. Airs. J. Wilson. Books and magazines, Airs. T. Steele. Hon. Auditor. Mr. T. FI. Pearson.

Airs. Quirk thanked Airs. Gordon Cor her Valuable! work on behalf of the league. Airs. Gordon in a happy little speech, spoke of the pleasure it had given her to work lor such a worthy object as the Hospital Sunshine League indicated. ANNEAL REPORT 'The following report was presented by. the president. Airs. O. Gordon, on behalf of the committee: — .1 have pleasure in reporting a successful year of useful work carried out. As president of our League 1 have, to express my appreciation of the services rendered hv Airs. Quirk and Airs. J. I). Clark, vice-president, dining my absence in Australia. During the year we have been able to supply all requests asked for by the matron of the hospital. We have also supplied an ambulance stretcher and child's cot. The four chairs that Aliss AlcLean wa.s toi procure from the Blind Institute have not arrived yet. Two New Zealand Herald’s are still supplied daily. Wo have decided to provide a separate wireless set for the nurse’s sittiiig room and l hope to see it installed next week. The hospital visits carried out twice a month with gifts of fruit and cigarettes, have been attended to by our ccjivenoT. Airs. Wilson, whom we regret, had a severe illness, but I am pleased to state she is now able to resume her work. Airs. Steele continues to deliver books and magazines to hospital. It was decided 1 to abandon the monthly stock sales, with the exception of the sheep fair. Our thanks arc due to Airs. Stcptoe tor the amount of hard work she did' in connection with them. The chrysanthemum show held in April was one of the most successful we have held. We are very much indebted to Alestlames Pearson (convener), Hod ley, Alail (joint secretaries), A. Dnvey (treasurer), Burgess and Murray (tearoom convenors) for their work in connection with the show. I have pleasure in reporting an increase of members to both committee and league. A farewell afternoon was given at the residence of Air. and Airs. C. Gordon for one of our vice-presidents. Airs. Grant, who left the district. She will be missed from the committee. The usual garden party was also held to open, our new year. I am pleased to say we have been able to help all eases oif want that we have heard 9 bout and you will see by the balance sheet that we arc in a very sound position. In conclusion, as this is the last meeting at which 1 shall preside as your president-, I would take this opportunity of thanking my secretary, treasurer and committee during my term of office; also/ members of tlu> League, for the whole-hearted support given me during myi term as president. I hope and trust that our endeavours and work have fulfilled' the aims and aspirations of the Sunshine League, namely, to case the burdens of the afflicted and bring a measure of sunshine into/ the lives of those who are not too well endowed with this world’s goods.
