OPOTIKI MONTHLY MEETINC Airs. J. T. Thompson presided over a large attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Opotiki Women's Institute. Misses V. Thompson and E. Murray contributed solos to the musical programme. Alls. Fox reported cm the annual meeting of the Federation of the Eastern Bay of Plenty institutes. Aliss Bridge gave notice of the next meeting cf the gardening . circle, and announced that the points prize winners for the year were Airs. Beattie and ALis. Jeffery, each with 33 points. Airs. Alail addressed the meeting in a most interesting and instructive manner, dealing with correct diet in relation to health, and the vitamin values of foods. Airs. Fisher, a member of the Federation Council, gave an account of a meet inc she attended recently. Tfie roll call, “Irish Wit”, proved most amusing. Supper was then served by the hostesses of the evening, Aiesdamos Bridge, Bennett, Beattie, Baigeut. A competition, six scones with butter, was won by Aliss N. Neilson, Airs. E. Thompson being second. The entries in this competition were sold to members and the proceeds devoted to Institute funds. The flower competition, “Bowl of Chrysanthemums,” was won by Airs. Beattie, with Allis. Jeffery second. A waltzing competition, suggested by Axiss N. Neilson was won by Mrs.
lt. Smtih and Airs. Jeffery. A written competition by Airs. 1 ox, was won by Aliss J. Alurray.
