WAIMANA GARDENING CIRCLE
(News Correspondent.) A most, interesting and pleasant! afternoon was spent at the residence of Mrs. Stansbury by the members' of the gardening circle of the Waima-na-Nukuhou branch of the Women’s; Institute, last Wednesday. The gaub en.s and lawns were in good order, the. autumn flowers being much admired.. The growing of sweet peas and shrubs was well discussed, a paper being, read by Mrs. A. K. Bell on sweet, peas. ' • There were good entries it) the day’s competitions and the' results were as follows: ■Bow! of 1 terries or autumn foliage: Mrs. Wool field 1, -M rs. Crai.swick *2, Airs. Burnett. 3. Best flower from member’s garden : Mrs. Mannion (dahlia) 1,, -Mrs. Stevenson 2. Mrs. Davies 3. f The next meeting will he held at the home of Mrs. A. K. Bell on May 21. The competition will he a vase of painted foliage. * The afternoon closed with a dainty tea served by the hostesses, Mrs. Davies and .Mrs. Bell. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the judge. Mrs. McLean and to M.'rs. Stansbury, for 'the pleasant afternoon.
