03VIARUMUi;U INSTITUTE The annual meeting of the Omarunurtu Women’s Institute was held .in the school on "Wednesday last. The meeting was opened by the reading of the institute Creed and Aspirations. The retiring president, Sister Morgan, addressed the meeting, urging members to attend regularly and thus make the 1939 year a. successful one. TJie secretary read the annual report and balance-sheet which showed a credit balance of £l4 ltis -id. Mrs. Jack Kelly won the-cup for the most points during the year and Mrs. J. Kelly was second. An invitation to the To Kalia, birthday was received and the members hope to be present if transport can be arranged. Officers were elected as follows : President, Mrs. Tairua. Vice-presidents. Sister Morgan and Sister Kirkwood. Secretary and treasurer. Mrs. McLaughlau. Committee, Mosdnmos John Kelly. Jack Kelly, Christiansen and Edwardson. An enjoyable address was given by Sister Kirkwood on “Women Invalids”. Afternoon tea was served during which the new president presented the retiring president. Sister Morgan, with a crystal sweet dish as a mark of appreciation for the past work she had: done. Miss Morgan expressed regret at having to give up the position of president, but she could not carry on owing to health' reasons. She wished the institute every success during the- approaching year. The singing of the. National Anthem concluded the meeting.
