WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

OPOTIKI GARDENING CIRCLE The Gardening Circle of the Opotiki AVcmen’s Institute held their monthly meeting recently at the home of Airs. Burrett. There was a large number of members present presided over by Airs. Alerry. The three best blooms competition was won by Mrs. J. B. Clark, with Airs. Hughes second. The competition for best bunch of flowers in three shades was won by Aiiss E. Bridge, with Airs. Baird second. Airs. Mail offered her home for the Alareh meeting, the competition tobe a spray of green and gold. A paper on the origin and growth of hydrangeas was read by Aiiss Bridge. The wonderfully fine dahlias of Airs. Burrett’s were very much admired by all present. Thanks to Airs. Burrett brought a very enjoyable afternoon to a close.
