REST AND PLUNKET ROOMS

£SO DONATION BY COUNTY COUNCILLOR OFFERS £5 Consideration of the proposals for the proposed Plunket and Rest Rooms was given by the County Council at the monthly meeting to-day. The Borough Council submitted concrete proposals for the erection of Plunket and rest rooms, asking if tiie county would be willing to assist financially. The estimated cost is £7130 to £BOO. The plans were also submitted.

Mr. Gault said it was certainly a necessary building and would be of benefit to county residents. However the county had a large overdraft and could only give a limited amount. The chairman proposed that £SO be donated. This was seconded by Cr. Hedley. Or. McDonnell offered to donate £5. He considered that the money could be subscribed from country and town residents. The idle county section could he leased and the money given as upkeep for the building. Cr. Black said that he was pleased that the plans had been sent along.

Cr. Moody said that the ladies had offered to furnish the building. Cr. Miaxwcll moved as an amendment that £25 he given. This was seconded by Cr. Burke. The amendment was lost by 8 votes to 5.

The motion, on being put to thy meeting, was carried.
