NEW HIGH SCHOOL
APPLICATION FOR GRANT AN URGENT NEED At the Opotiki District High School Committee meeting on Wednesday night, a, letter from the lion. P. Fraser, Minister of 'Education to the district member, Mr. A. G. Midtquist, was read. The letter was in reply to representations made to the Education Beard by the Opotiki School Committee for the early erection of a now High School on the section in St. John Street between Bridge and W clJingtou Streets recently acquired by the Board. The letter from the Minister was as follows : “I am in receipt of your letter of 22nd. November with which was enclosed a communication forwarded to you on 15th. November by Mr. A. E. Payne, in which reference is made to the need for the early erection of the now school. “In this connection I have’ to say that an application has been received from the Board for a substantial grant to cover the east of the erection of a new Secondary Department on the new site at Opotiki and for the remodelling of the primary tufilding and the erection of an additional classroom. The work is regarded as urgent and the Board’s application is receiving consideration.
