OPOTIKI HOSPITAL BOARD

monthly MEETINC The monthly meeting of the Opotiki Hospital Board was held in tiie County Chambers on Friday afternoon. Present: -Messrs. >S. Maxwell (chairman), J. Ale Donnell, t S. Shalloon, E. J. Baigont, 0. T). Brown, G. S. Aloody, Air. J. 'J’. Alerr.v (secretary), and Dr. H. J. Alnil (hospital superintendent). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and continued and outward correspondence w;Ts approved.

Christmas greetings were read from Air. -V. G. Hultquist AI.P. and Airs. Hultquist and it was decided to reciprocate the good wishes expressed. Mr. O. I). Brown, on behalf of the R. wrote expressing the desire of the Association to renew the Hospital Scheme, and expressing their appreciation of the smooth-running of the arrangements.—The chairman said that consideration could only he given to a renewal to April Ist. because of the. Social Security Scheme. It was for the board to decide what terms they would accept for'the three mouths. Mr. J. Ale Donnell moved and Mr. G. S. Al.ooc.iy seconded that the scheme he renewed for a further three months at the rate of 7s Gd per member.

A letter from the Department of Health submitted minor alterations to the Board's recently revised bylaws. When these alterations are made the by-laws will lie approved by the Department. The Board decided tci make the; slight alterations.

The matron, Miss L. McLean. reported as foJlows :—At the present time I have an untrained nurse relieving on nightduty, as I was. unable to procure a trained nurse. I received a memo, regarding patients’ clothing. A hook has always been kept for the purpose of entering the belongings ol patients and another b'i entering valuables money etc. Regarding the suggestion that patients’ clothing should be* marked at iiospital this would involve a considerable amount ol work and* probably more help would he required to carry it out. In largei public hospitals and also private hospitals it is made .a rule that it private clothing is laundered on the premises no responsibility is taken by the hoard. We have followed this rule* here and have always advised the patient that wherever possible it is-bet-ter to send the clothing away to he washed. We have to thank the Sunshine' League for curtains for the veraminli. Mr. liutler for fowl, Mr. Rowe ten* eggs. M.V. Summers fer lemons. Requirements: A now floor rug iur the floor of the 1 office.
