THE ANNUAL REPORT ■ . ~CF, The following annual report was presented at the annual meeting of shareholders of the Opotiki Dairy Association, by the chairman of directors, Air AV. J. Connor:— Your directors have pleasure in placing before you the forty-secotid annual report and statement of accounts for the year ended 31st. July, 1938.
Payout.—The appropriation account ’shows a balanco available for distribution of £24,539' which your directors propose to allocate as follows:—(1) To make a further payment on 20th. September, 19,38 of Id per lb- on butterfat, received during the year. (2) To pay 3;f nor cent, interest on paid up capitalgat 3lst. July, 1937. The further payment- on 20th. September will bring the cash payment on basis of finest tip to loch per lb. butter fat- and with cream cartage and interest on shares added to 15.313 d. The average casli payment over all grades, will be 14.830 d., and with cream cartage and interest oil shares added 15,143 d. per lb. butterfat. The actual average cash payment over all grades for the previous year was 13.745 d. and lyitli cream cartage and interest on shares 14-OG7d. per lb. butterfat.
Stocks : Stocks of unsold butter have been valued at the present guaranteed Price- according to grade. Output.—-Production during the year was 2969 tons of butter, ah increase of 453 tons or 18 per cent, over the previous year. Quality.—lt is gratifying to report that the quality of the butter has been maintained. It is generally •known by suppliers that under the Government Guaranteed Price a premium is paid on highest grade of butter. and each supplier is earnestly urged to do his or her utmost to supply the highest possible quality of cream. AA’ith the Government appointing additional dairy farm instructors. Mr Wilson Scott will be enabled to spend considerably more time among our own suppliers than bo has in the past, and ’your directors commend his
services to all requiring them. Local Market .t—' The change effected in local marketing under Government control has deprived ..this company of any- benefit from the great effort and efficient services which our esteemed Auckland agents have rendered during tlie past thirty-five years' in establishing a very large market for ‘Opotiki* brand of 1 butter (not a proprietary brand of their own). This is probably a unique service, which is gratefully/ appreciated by■:yotiji* "who deeply regret the heavy’ ioSses borne by Messrs C. AicKin' and Sons' during this season owing to an inadequate distributing allowance. 'Employees.—Your directors and management record their grateful appreciation of the services rendered by the employees of the during the past year. Allowances. —It is recommended that the Directors’ fees for the coming year be the same as for last year.
