FINAL SESSION OF SEASON ANNUAL LADIES’ NIGHT ( • _ "v..'". Members of the Opotiki Orphans’ Club held the final session of the season in the Lyric Hall oif “Wednesday night. The occasion also served its their annual ladies’ night, and proved one of the most popular functions the club has held, there being an attendance of about lot), A happy atmosphere prevailed throughout the evening in the early part of .which a popular programme of musical items was presented. The club’s orchestra which was in excellent- form, opened the programme and this was followed by community singing led by Bvo A. G. Stevenson. The popular numbers were heartily sung by all present and readily provided a happy informal atmosphere of goodfellowship which was enjoyed throughout. A toast to the ladies was proposed by Bro. A. N- Davies in his usual bright manner a iuli ably responded to by Airs Dohrceeny. A pianoforte and banjo duet was played by Bros. J. Henry and F. Wrigley, and Bro. S. Pearce contributed a violin solo. Vocal selections wore given by Bros. M. Rowland. F. AV. Wingate alul A. G. Stevenson, fin* accompanists being Airs L. Sinclair and Alls L. D. .Duff. A popular item the programme was Air G- Lysaglit’s ventriloquial act. During the evening, a pleasing incident was performed by Bro. H. Rowland, a, past- president and foundation member of the club, when lie presented ai handsome chain ol: office, donated; bv Bro. G. S. Alooily, to flic present president, Bro. A. G. Stevenson. Bro. Rowland spoke in glowing terms of the club’s progress and attributed its success to the enthusiastic officers whom lie congratulated for the success of the evening.

A delicious supper was served by Bro. Dodgson and his stewards, the tables being daintily arranged with beautiful soring blooms. Alter supper the floor was cleared for dancing which was enjoyed until a late hour. The music was 'supplied by the dub’s orchestra.
