UKU HO’J MEET IMC / There was a very good attendance, of members, and friends at the monthly meeting of s the AVannana-Nukuhou branch of the Women’s Institute; held in the AVaimana, Hall, last AYednesday afternoon: The -meeting was, presided over by Airs. 'F. J- Savage. Following the Institute song, theusual routine business was transacted. The secretary read a most interesting letter from a member, Airs AA 7 . AA’arcllaw, who is at present in Scotland, and also* read a circular from -Christchurch asking for help for the lepers, and it was decided to take gifts along to the next meeting to he' sent on to the sufferers. The election of delegates to represent the Institute at the bi-annual federation. meeting to ho held in the AVaimana Hall on the 28th. September, resulted in Airs D. Grover and Airs F- Cranswick being elected.

Mrs AYoolfield, then gave, a most full and interesting report of the Dominion 'Conference which was held in AA 7ollington in July. A new member, Airs Rust, was welcomed.

Alost interesting demonstrations wore given by two AA’aiotahi .Institute members. Airs Newton demonstrated making pine-tree needle baskets, and Airs .Cunningham raupo baskets. Airs Wilson, AGO., AYaiotahi, gave a most interesting address on her tour of Australia, and of the good work tlio Country Women’s Association are doing in that country. During the afternoon, the president asked Mrs C. AVykle to accept a posy of violets with liest wishes from the members for All's A. P. AA vide senr., a foundation member, who is ill. The competitions for the day were well entered for. The results were': — Best flower. Airs Hewitt 1, Airs Stevenson 2. All's Cranswick 3Vase of spring flowers, Airs Cranswick 1, Airs T. AA’ .Wardlaw 2. Airs Stevenson 3. Chocolate sponge, iced, Airs Hewitt 1, Airs Cranswick 2, Airs T. AA . AA ardJaw 3.

A lieart.v vote of thanks was carried by acclamation t«> the demonstrators,

judges, Mfcs Wilson and tlie hostesses. W dainty tea was served by the hostesses, Airs' Stevenson, Mrs "Miller. Airs H. Ward law, Airs J. Wardlaw. Airs B. Wardlaw, Airs Stevenson. A most successful and enjoyable afternoon closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
