PLUNKET AND REST ROOMS

NO PROGRESS MADE Reporting on the round table conference between the Borough and County Councils, Mr W. A. Gault stated at the County Council meeting today that it had been suggested that the county's section should.be used in conjunction with the borough section in Church Street for the Plunket and rest rooms. Mr Gault said that the County Council occupied leased premises, and in future years if they wished to build, the section in Church Street may be the only available site. The Borough Council had sufficient land for the purpose. Ci- Black said that the Borough Council had not fulfilled its promise to supply a detailed report and the section had not been definitely asked for.

Cr Hedley said that lie understood that the whole site was not asked for. The county had not been asked for any money and he considered the county should not take a stand against the proposal because the women of the county wanted the rooms. Mir Gault said that it was the borough’s duty to build the rooms. The council decided it could go no further until it had received -a letter from the borough putting forward something concrete.
