HUNTING

SUCCESSFUL OTARA MEET GOOD RUNS AND ONE KILLEncouraged by the success and enjoyment or the last hunt,- there >vas a, good attendance of enthusiastic followers at a meet of the Opotiki Hunt Club .held over Air Clem Black’s pro-, perty, Otara, 1 on Saturday. Another excellent day’s sport was enjoyed, several long and fast- runs resulting in a kill. There were many spectators who were enthusiastic in their praise of tly splendid exhibition of jumping, witnessed. Aiorning tea was served at Air Black’s' residence, and at the. conclusion of the day, afternoon tea was served at the home of the Alaster, Air C'. T. Clark. It was previously intended that this should be the hist hunt of the season but it has since been intimated that there will probably he an extra hunt held at Table-: lands.

During afternoon tea several speeches were made, the president, Mr S. D. Abbot, expressing thanks to Air and Airs Black and to Air and All’s Clark for their hospitality. Air S. Alaxwell spoke in praise of the huntsman’s work and said that the Club would welcome new members. Air C. Black spoke of the pleasure it had given to have the meet at his property, and eulogised the work of the Alaster, Air C. T- Clark. The Club was fortunate in having him as Alaster. Then* was ready response to his call for three cheers for the Alaster. On behalf of the property owners at Tablelands, Air F. \Y. Reid said lie felt sure that- they would willingly consent to there being another hunt at Tablelands this, season.

Air A. Young, a life member of the Club, when called upon to speak, congratulated' the Club on its successful year and wished them continued success. Alr ' C. T. Clark thanked the speakers. for their kind remarks and also called for support by members and intending members. The afternoon was brought to a, close with hearty cheers for the ladies, Alaster, Huntsman and property owners. The cheers were ae-
