HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

PR QPOSED FOR Al AT lON MEETING TO 810 HELD •The proposal to form a Horticultural Society in Opotiki is arousing considerable interest, and a. meeting lias been arranged to lie held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, August 2d. at 8 p.m. A special invitation is extended to all garden lovers to be present, to enable the proposed society to make a good start. Such a society should be of great, value to the district, as lectures, field days and other interesting matters are dealt with. It- is understood! that societies in other districts will assist to some extent by the supply of plaints etc. It is the usual practice* at the meetings of the societies to -hold exhibitions of seasonal. plants and flowers, points being awarded to the best exhibits.

In all probability the society will hold a flower show early in Alareh.
